Rookie Baseball is broken into 2 sub-divisions; Rookie B and Rookie A. The league ages have been changed for the 2015 season and 6 year old players will be on their own instead of the 8 year old players. The 'B' division is for boys and girls who are 6 years old, and the 'A' division is for 7 & 8 year old boy players.
All players ages are based on an April 30th for Boys & December 31st cut off for girls. This date is set by Cal Ripken Baseball.
Rookie B
- Players must be 6 years old by April 30th for boys and 6 years old by Jan 1st for girls. Only 6 year old players will participate in this league.
- League is focused on teaching basic fundamentals in the game of baseball while transitioning players from t ball to competitive leagues.
- All games will be coach pitch until the last 2 weeks of the season.
- Consists of 6 inning games.
- Games will be played with a soft core safety baseball.
- There will be outs and a score will be kept but there will not be a playoff or standings.
- 1 to 2 games per week along with a minimum of 1 practice each week.
Rookie A
- Players Must be 7 or 8 years old based on leagues age date and cutoff of April 30th.
- This is a competitive division which is still focused on refining player skills in a positive learning environment.
- Games will be kid pitch and consist of 6 innings.
- Games will be played with a hard ball and will follow previous rookie A rules and guidelines.
- Players will participate in evaluations and are drafted by managers and coaches.
- There will be a 7 and 8 year old all star team chosen before the end of the season. Chosen based on league rules and bylaws.
